I think it wasn’t as explicit as people have put it out there to be. Maybe it’s just my personal taste. I think it was an amazing movie, and it captured the horrible, empty lifestyle of the wealthy. (Spoilers ahead.) You can see Jordan transform from a money-hungry man to a wealthy man who had no measure of what money actually costs. I loved Leo in it, he did really well, as usual. I also think we don’t give Margot Robbie much appreciation, she played the part beautifully. I had no idea she was Australian, her accent sounded authentic. She also made me sympathize for her, even though she stole someone’s husband and was, at some point, to me, a complete slut. However, she became a mother who developed maturity after years of Jordan’s bullshit.
It’s a great movie! To all the critics disgusted with all the boobs and the drugs, I don’t think they realize how much that contributes to the impact of the movie overall. Without the prostitutes and the quaaludes, we wouldn’t be able to get that sense of emptiness that all those rich Wall Street men carried.
